Social Media Has Taken Over The World
Social media has become such a huge factor in our culture. Nowadays, most teens are influenced by what's hot or trending. Social media has really become the driving force on youth culture. Our devices allow us to establish relationships in different ways with friends, families, teachers etc. It also allows us to form relationships with people form around the world! But that doesn't mean that's always a good thing. The power we have with our devices also affect how we do in school, for better or worse. The power of social media is something to be careful for and our devices is what makes us capable of being a part of that.
With social media having such a huge influence on youth, our relationships have been affected because of it. For some, it means spending less time with your family and more with your friends. That's a bad thing as it makes the relationship you have established with your family when you were younger unhealthier. You're not talking as much as you did before and you don't show them the same love and appreciation as you did before. Social media also affects the way on how we talk to people face-to-face. At this age, many people would prefer to text someone or their friends rather than actually talk to them in person. This worsens relationships because you begin to lose intimacy with one another. For some, making relationships behind a screen is a good thing since no one can tell who you are but that's also the downside to it. In the end, you're both complete strangers to one another. This is the influence social media has on the youth.
As for school, computers and phones have been the way to go. These allow us to access information on all kinds of things and makes it faster to find them. It also increases communication with our teachers. Edmodo is a great example of that. It allows us to talk to teachers if we ever need their help but they're not available because it could be a weekend or that they're sick. However, with so much freedom and access to these electronic devices, it is easy to get distracted from doing work or that privacy is a concern. Administrators have already done a good job by restricting certain websites from the students. This allows them to focus on the task at hand. In the end, the schools have done a good job implementing electronic devices as it drastically helps the students with their education.

Celebrity Treatment
To ordinary people like me, we see celebrities as idols. We believe that celebrities are greater than us just because they are famous, they're talented, and have fulfilled many achievements. (Kim Kardashian is not an example of these yet she's famous just because she's famous). With this in mind, does that mean that regular people aren't as good as celebrities? No, of course not. We can do the same things celebrities can do. However, we treat them differently because they are known, they are the face of our culture and we feel that they shouldn't be punished because of that.
We don't want our favourite celebrities to be punished because we love them. We love them for their talent such as dancing, singing, playing a sport, etc. We admire what they can do and try to follow in their example. Sometimes, their actions aren't always responsible or moral yet we don't want anything bad to happen to them because our feelings toward them. Our feelings overpower their irresponsible behaviour and actions and that's why fans are willing to put so much when it comes to overlooking our favourite celebrity's misbehaviours.
Despite overlooking their misbehaviours, it still isn't right. If regular people faced the same problems as celebrities did, we would face the consequences. Unlike celebrities, we don't have the money to pay for damage done on property or bail ourselves or the influence to change the decisions of authority. Celebrities don't face the serious consequences because of our culture. Our culture sees celebrities as greater people who are above the law. While for some people that may be true, but as a community, that is not fair for everyone.
The Danger of Bullying and What We Can Do To Stop It?
It's sad to see that bullying still occurs in schools. School is place where kids should feel safe from the dangers of the world where they can learn and grow. School is also a place where children make friends and laugh, participate in fun activities, and working with others to accomplish common interests and goals. However, that wasn't the case for the 14 year-old girl. No one was with her to help her with her problems and struggles and no one believed her when she told school administrators that she was getting bullied. The school failed her because this school didn't provide her the support she needed. No school should ever be like that.
In my school, there are several ways you can find support. My school provides guidance counsellors, and teacher advisors. These two sources of authority can help you in hard times. You can create such a strong relationship with the guidance counsellors because you are allowed to talk to them privately about your problems and they are willing to listen and help. As for the teacher advisor, he/she is a person who'll be with you every school day for 4 or more years; they are like parents but in school. Teacher advisors are able to act like guidance counsellors. These are the two reliable sources where you can find help for yourself.
As a community, the school should make a club that is focused solely on bullying. While we have many groups that are related to bullying, they focus on a certain area of bullying such as the GSA. Creating a club focused on bullying as a whole will certainly help kids who are reaching out for help. A club like this will protect the students from any more harm and and will help build strong and trustworthy relationships. This is a service the school should provide to help children who are victims of bullying.

Is the Internet True or Not?
The Internet is full of information that everyone can access. In today's age, the Internet is the best source where you can find information. Information could range from things such as memes all the way to actual facts. Considering it's the Internet, we'll believe the things we find as we surf through the web (of course, there are things in the Internet that are blatant lies). However, even if it looks legitimate and pleasing to the individual, it might be not true at all. After all, the Internet is not always telling the truth; just like the article on the lottery.
To some people, seeing the picture of the prize money being divided to the U.S. population sounds way to good to be true. At first glance, many people would be ecstatic to receive 4.33 million dollars. People want to hear good news and money makes people greedy. The article definitely broke the optimism of some people when the writer found out that it was just a simple math mistake. It was clearly a math mistake, but the thought of receiving 4.33 million dollars deceived them from the actual truth albeit not intentional. But this is the power of the Internet.
The next time you see something that sounds or looks like it's too good to be true, chances are it probably is too good to be true. The Internet has the power to deceive people just because the things people find are on the Internet. Here's to hoping that people who use the Internet are wary of what they see or find out.
A YouTube Subscription That Should Never Be Promoted Again (Not In a Million Years)
YouTube is basically my life in social media. It's where I get to know the latest trends, my source of entertainment, and has helped me SEVERAL times in solving math problems that I did not understand at all. I would search up a video then click on the one that looks the most favourable. The moment the video starts, BOOM! An ad pops up interrupting me from watching the video. I hate it and it annoys me since most of the ads aren't even related to the video or is any of interest. However, there's a way to remove those pesky ads from videos.
YouTube is releasing a subscription that will completely remove ads away from YouTube. For only $9.99 a month, you will never have to watch YouTube with ads ever again. Sounds great right? WRONG! That subscription is terrible and a complete a waste of money.
The price is definitely not worth it! When you add up the total cost of the subscription in a year, it is around $120. You're wasting that much money on removing ads that most of the time are only 15 seconds long. $9.99 to remove ads that are usually 15 seconds long; might as well go back to solving a math problem.
Yes, the advertisers are doing this to sell their product(s) to the audience and that youtubers need ads in their videos to gain money. But, I'd rather watch my videos without ads. R.I.P TV! Youtube is my Life (Blog Post #1)
TV is done (well, almost completely gone). The only time I use the TV is when I'm doing my homework just for the noise. I like to have noise in the background. The picture below basically sums up my experience with TV.
Honestly, there's nothing for me to watch on TV anyway. The only time I need to use it is to go to one of the news channels and see what the weather and temperature is for the day. The only one who uses TV in the family is my dad. He's the one that only uses it since he doesn't really know how to use YouTube, Netflix, Hulu etc. This leads me to my next thought about TV dying.
Youtube, Netflix, Shomi, etc. These programs provide all if not, most of the shows, videos, and movies for you to watch at anytime, anywhere. There's no need to wait for the scheduled time to watch something and you have the freedom to choose what you want to watch anytime, anywhere.
Cable TV is slowly fading away from the lives of many people, friends, and families. As for me, it's non-existent for me. That being said, it's still a source of entertainment that people can rely on. However, as decades pass by, it will eventually not be used as often as it did several years ago.
